Guatemala is the largest and most populous of Central American countries with about 14 million people in an area slightly smaller than Tennessee. 70% of the Guatemalan population is poor.

This directly reflects the percentage of Guatemalans that do not attend school. 67% of Guatemalans between the age of 7-14 years old do not attend school due to the lack of resources. They can’t afford an education and/or need to help out at home or work to raise money for their families.
